# Channels

Channels let you group related files together — by project, topic, client, or any way that works for you.

## Creating a channel

1. Go to the **Library** tab
2. Click **Create new channel**
3. Give it a name
4. Add files to the channel

## Using channels

* Click a channel in the Library to see its files
* Chat with a channel to search only the files inside it
* Share an entire channel with a single link

## Managing channels

* **Add files** — open the channel and add more files
* **Remove files** — remove individual files from the channel (the file stays in your library)
* **Delete channel** — removes the grouping but does not delete the files

**Tip:** Channels are great for organizing knowledge by project or department. Create one channel per project, then share it with your team.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.knowbase.ai/knowledge-base/channels.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
